E-mail Print PDF

This article contains information concerning the 2010 Solo & Ensemble event at Liberty Middle School. Feel free to share this information with students.

Music

Although there is not an approved music list there is a list of suggested literature published in the Cumulative List and directors should give their students guidance in the selection of appropriate music. The music must be performed by the required number of performers (duets must have two players, etc.). Numbered scores must be furnished for the adjudicator for solos and ensembles and three numbered scores must be furnished for Jazz Band adjudicators.

Director Instructions

ScheduleFinal Schedule. (Director must login to view) You may now assign your students times.

  • Sheets
  • Sheets will be mailed out Monday.  Madison County Schools will receive your packets through "van mail"Each packet will contain sheets for your students and labels containing a Judge number and a specific time.
  • It is the responsibility of the director to assign a student to each sheet.
    • If you have a student who is participating in multiple events, make sure you do not assign that student to multiple rooms at the same time slot.
    • Once you assign your student to a specific time and judge place the label on the sheet (as pictured to the right) and have the student bring this sheet to the judges room.
    • Please note that Judge #3 and #11 will be in rooms with a piano.  Students will not be allowed to perform in a room without the correct judge # and time that is posted on their sheet.
  • Be sure your jazz band is setup and ready to play at your designated time in the band room:
    • 9:00am - Discovery MS
    • 12:15pm - Huntsville HS
    • 2:00pm - Hampton Cove MS
  • Make sure you bring three numbered judges scores for the jazz band judges.
  • Please notify me of any students (time slots) that will not be attending (no-shows) and bring any unused adjudication sheets and labels to me upon your arrival at Liberty so I may adjust scheduling issues.

Student Performance

  • Students will be assigned a judge and a scheduled performance time by their director according to a school scheduled block of time.  Students should arrive early to their performance time and be at their designated room at least 5 minutes prior to their performance.  The judge will ONLY judge the student assigned to them; therefore, students MUST go to the assigned judges room.  If a student arrives late they must wait for an opening and not take the time slot of someone else who is on time.
  • When the student enters the room for performance he or she should greet the judge and present them with the additional numbered music score.  A copy machine will NOT be available at the site.  Please make sure you make arrangements to have a copy of the music prior to arriving.
  • Results will be available for directors in the hospitality room.  Students are not allowed in the hospitality room.  See your director for results and do not ask the judge for your score after you perform.
  • This page will be updated with school maps as soon as they are available.
